Swift Springs Expands 9" Barrel Spring Line with Three New Higher Rates for Dirt Late Models
Swift Springs continues to expand its Dirt Late Model suspension lineup with the introduction of three new 9-inch Barrel Spring rates designed specifically for left front applications. The new additions include 500, 525, and 550 lb/in spring rates, giving racers additional tuning options for maximizing front-end performance under changing track conditions.
Engineered specifically for Dirt Late Models, these new Barrel Springs provide racers with a unique alternative to conventional 10-inch front springs by delivering controlled spring response without excessive rebound.
Developed for Dirt Late Model Competition
Not every racing surface requires the fast opening speed of a traditional 10-inch front spring.
On certain dirt tracks, racers want to keep the front nose planted through the corner without creating excessive rebound that can upset chassis balance on corner exit.
To address this, Swift engineered the new 9-inch Barrel Spring Series with a specialized design that reduces opening speed while maintaining the durability and consistency racers expect from every Swift spring.
The result is a spring package that provides improved front-end control while helping maintain mechanical grip throughout the corner.

Engineered for Controlled Suspension Response
Unlike conventional front springs, the new 9-inch Barrel Springs feature only four active coils, reducing the spring's opening speed compared to standard designs.
This slower opening characteristic helps minimize unnecessary rebound in the front shock, allowing the chassis to remain more settled during weight transfer and improving front-end stability under demanding racing conditions.
By slowing the spring's extension rate without relying solely on shock valving, racers gain another valuable tuning tool for optimizing suspension performance on slick or technical dirt tracks.
Built to Handle High Loads
Although designed with fewer active coils, these springs are engineered for exceptional strength.
Each spring is capable of withstanding more than 1,650 pounds of load, giving racers confidence that the spring will maintain its integrity under the extreme forces experienced during Dirt Late Model competition.
Combined with Swift's proprietary HS5.TW spring material, the new Barrel Springs deliver the durability and long-term consistency required for today's demanding racing environments.
Designed for Performance
The new 9-inch Barrel Springs incorporate several engineering features that help optimize Dirt Late Model suspension performance:
- Four active coil design for controlled opening speed
- Reduced spring rebound to improve front-end stability
- Barrel spring profile with fewer active coils
- Linear spring characteristics throughout the usable stroke
- Designed specifically for left front Dirt Late Model applications
- Proprietary HS5.TW spring material for exceptional consistency and durability
- High-load capacity exceeding 1,650 lbs
These features provide racers with another tuning option when track conditions call for improved front-end control without sacrificing reliability.

New Spring Rates and Specifications
| Part Number | Spring Rate (lb/in) | Usable Stroke | Max Stroke | Max Load |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 090-250-500 B | 500 | 4.4" | 5.6" | 2,854 lbs |
| 090-250-525 B | 525 | 4.3" | 5.7" | 2,997 lbs |
| 090-250-550 B | 550 | 4.3" | 5.6" | 3,096 lbs |
The new 500, 525, and 550 lb/in rates expand Swift's 9-inch Barrel Spring lineup, giving Dirt Late Model teams additional options to fine-tune front suspension behavior for varying track conditions and chassis setups.
Who Should Use These Springs?
The new 9-inch Barrel Springs are ideal for Dirt Late Model teams looking to reduce front-end rebound without relying solely on shock adjustments. Racers competing on slick, technical tracks where keeping the nose planted is critical will benefit from the controlled opening speed and high-load durability these springs provide.
